What is Mobile Film Stories?

Mobile Film Stories was originally launched September 8, 2020 as the first streaming distribution service in the world for films shot with smartphone cameras.

We provided a platform to distribute feature and short films with an opportunity for filmmakers to monetize their work with PPV (pay-per-view) streaming without advertisements or subscriptions. Each filmmaker had their own unique webpage to showcase their films and provide information for their fans on how to reach them and connect with them.

Mobile Film Stories also provided a forum style community, The Quad, for members to discuss various mobile filmmaking topics and share resources, collaborate and more.

In the summer of 2022, filmmakers making short films with smartphones and other mobile devices used YouTube to continue to distribute their films and chose to not monetize their short films. We also found that national online distribution sites such as Tubi and Amazon Prime, among others, were open to distributing feature films shot with smartphone cameras.

Due to the high cost of providing high quality streaming services as an opportunity for mobile filmmakers to earn revenue, we decided to stop the service. As innovators, we're always looking to improve opportunities for mobile filmmakers, we have shifted to a space for connecting and promoting mobile filmmakers.
